DIRD Delegate Institutional Routing Division

A LaunchCloud Labs division · Voice-native by necessity

Life doesn't stop at the gate. Neither should yours.

DIRD is the financial, telephonic, and digital operating system for the incarcerated — a real line to the outside world that runs entirely by voice from an ordinary facility phone. Make calls that sound like a free person's. Reach the live internet. Hold real money. No smartphone. No app. No keypad required.

§ What DIRD is

One phone call is the only tool most people inside actually have.

So we built everything around it. Roughly half of facilities garble or block the keypad mid-call, and most people inside have no device and no internet at all. DIRD assumes none of that. You call one number, and a voice assistant does the rest — signs you up, signs you in, and hands you a genuine account you operate by talking.

Behind that single call sits a telephone network that preserves your identity to the person you're calling, a voice-to-web browser that reaches the live internet, and a real-money account that moves value in, out, and person-to-person inside the walls. It's not a message board or a canned-response line. It's an operating system for staying a full participant in your own life.

To restore human dignity by bypassing institutional shadow bans — letting people manage their lives, finances, and communications from the inside with absolute autonomy. — DIRD mission

§ How it works

Everything happens in a single phone call.

01

Call

Dial the DIRD line from any facility phone. DIRD listens to the prison's charge-acceptance prompt and answers it for you — then greets you like a person, no menus to memorize.

02

Speak

Sign up entirely by voice — no email, no app. Your account is locked with a passphrase and a rotating security question you set yourself. Forget the exact wording? DIRD matches you fuzzily and lets you spell it out.

03

Live your life

Call home and sound free. Ask the Knowledge AI anything on the web. Check your balance, move money, keep a contact book, reach a real human — all by talking. Your account remembers everything between calls.

§ The services

A full toolkit — built for a phone, not a screen.

Each of these runs today by voice, unless it's marked Coming soon. Full detail on the Services page.

Call Relay & Identity Preservation

DIRD bridges your call to anyone on the outside. The person you're calling doesn't hear the robotic "this is a call from a correctional facility" warning — the conversation just sounds like you, calling. A gentle chime, audible only to you, warns a minute before the prison hard-cuts the line so you can say goodbye on your own terms.

The Knowledge AI — the web, by voice

A voice-to-web browser. Ask a question and DIRD searches the live internet and reads you a grounded answer with real sources — case law for your defense, today's news and sports, the weather, anything. It's the internet, over a phone, for people who've been cut off from it.

§ The inside economy

For the first time, money inside can be real money.

People inside already run an economy — hustles, favors, work. DIRD gives it real rails: value that can actually move, be saved, and follow you out the gate.

Take the barber on the block.

He cuts hair for $5 a head. His clients keep money in their own DIRD accounts, and after a cut they transfer him five real dollars — person to person, by ID number. Over a month it adds up to a real balance sitting in his account.

His wife needs to cover a bill? He sends money straight to her, minus a small transfer fee. And the day he's released, he doesn't walk out with pennies on the dollar — he walks out with everything he earned, ready to withdraw for a real second chance.

Every transfer passes a human review before it moves, and every dollar is logged. Instant card access to your balance is coming soon.

§ For families & friends

You don't need an account to help someone inside.

The simplest way to help is to add funds to their DIRD account. You can do it right here on this site, or your loved one can ask DIRD on a call and we'll text you a secure link. Either way, you enter your card on a payment page hosted by Stripe — the same company behind millions of businesses online. DIRD never sees or stores your full card number.

The money lands in their account within minutes, and they'll hear the new balance the next time they call. Nothing to install, no account to create.

How to know it's really us

  • Payment pages are hosted by Stripe — the address bar will say so.
  • A texted link only arrives after your loved one asks for it on a call.
  • Our support team answers from @launchcloudlabs.com.
  • We will never ask for gift cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency.
  • We will never call you demanding immediate payment.

§ Manage online Coming soon

Soon: a full account you run from anywhere.

Today you can add funds as a guest — no account needed. Next, we're opening DIRD web accounts so a family member can securely link to their loved one's account and do nearly everything they'd do on the phone — from a browser, on their own schedule.

  • Link to an account using the passphrase and security questions — one account, one person.
  • Add money and pull up a full receipt history — email any receipt to yourself.
  • Send transfers to other DIRD IDs, fund commissary, or cash out by check or bank.
  • Manage the contact book and kick off number porting.
  • Open a support ticket and choose a call back or an email back.

Heading in soon? You'll be able to create your account before you go — set your passphrase and security questions online, so you're ready to dial on day one.

§ FAQ

Questions, answered — straight.

Who is behind DIRD?

DIRD — the Delegate Institutional Routing Division — is a division of LaunchCloud Labs, a U.S. software company based in Melbourne, Florida. Our legal pages are public: Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions, and our support team is reachable at support@launchcloudlabs.com.

I got a text with a payment link. Is it really from DIRD?

If your incarcerated loved one just asked you for money on a call, very likely yes — that's exactly how the system works. The payment page itself is hosted by Stripe, so check the address bar before entering anything.

If a link shows up out of nowhere, or anyone pressures you to pay by gift card, wire, or crypto — that is not us. Forward it to support@launchcloudlabs.com and we'll confirm either way.

How does someone use this with no internet and no smartphone?

DIRD is voice-first by necessity, not as a gimmick. Roughly half the people we serve can't even use a phone keypad reliably, let alone a website. Every feature — signup, security, the Knowledge AI, balances, transfers, support — is built to work by speaking on an ordinary facility phone. This website exists for the people around them, who do live online.

Is DIRD affiliated with my facility or its phone company?

No. DIRD is an independent service that works over the ordinary phone lines facilities already have. We're not the facility's phone vendor, commissary, or staff — we work for the person calling us.

How is my money and account protected?

Sign-in uses three factors — your account ID, a personal passphrase, and a rotating security question — so knowing someone's ID number alone gets a caller nowhere. New accounts pass a human identity-review step, and every money transfer is reviewed by a real person before it moves. Card details are handled entirely on Stripe's hosted pages and are never read back over the phone.

What does it cost?

The Knowledge AI is $0.19 a minute, pay-as-you-go. Calls and messages are simple per-use rates, and transfers carry a small fee — all quoted clearly on the call before anything is charged, and every charge appears in the account's transaction history, readable back on any call. See the Services page for the full picture.

§ Support

Real people, reachable two ways.

From the outside

Questions, verifying a payment link, or account concerns on behalf of a loved one — include a phone number if you'd like a callback.

From the inside

Say "I need help" on any call. A ticket is opened with a real person and tracked until it's resolved — ask for its status on your next call.

Someone you love is still in there. Help them stay whole.

Add funds to their account in two minutes, or call the line to see how it works.
